KATHRYN SIXBEY

I am an oil painter based in Little Rock, Arkansas, working primarily in landscape and figurative imagery that lives somewhere between observation and imagination.

I am drawn to moments that feel slightly hidden or paused, inviting the viewer into a story and perhaps stillness. My process is grounded in traditional oil painting techniques, often working in layered passages to take full advantage of the oils range of transparency and opacity.

I am influenced by historical painters which I hope not to replicate in my work, but to offer continuity and a reverence for craftsmanship while exploring intuition and play.

I live alongside my husband, also a painter, and our shared studio life is central to my practice. Painting is woven into our lives, and joyously intentional.

My hope is to offer the viewer a place to linger with wonder and return to.
